Well, another year is coming to a close and that means that it’s time for another year end list.  The annual tradition of me picking my 5 favorite albums of the year is here.  It was tough this year, as 2019 had a TON of great releases, but alas I do a top 5 albums list, so 5 it is.

In no particular order, I give you my top 5 albums of 2019!

White Reaper - You Deserve Love (Elektra) – This one was highly anticipated by me.  I really started to get in to White Reaper after their 2017 release “The World’s Greatest American Band”. And when “You Deserve Love” finally dropped in October 2019, it did not disappoint.  If you haven’t put your ears on this one, do yourself a favor and put it on repeat now.  Garage Rock for 2020 and beyond!

Recommended tracks – Might Be Right, Real Hard Time, Hard Luck

Rex Orange County -Pony (RCA) The 18 year old, with the soul of a Yacht Rock Captain caught my ears back in 2017 with the release of “Apricot Princess”.  His latest effort “Pony” has the breeze of “Apricot Princess”, with a maturity to the lyrics that the last 3 years of fame and life have added to his already old soul.  Dig.

Recommended tracks – 10/10, Face To Face, Never Had The Balls

Jimmy Eat World - Surviving (RCA) It’s tough to say that this may be my second favorite Jimmy Eat World album ever, seeing at they have released 10 albums…But this IS my second favorite Jimmy Eat World Album ever.  The lead single “Love Never” brings back vibes of “Big Casino” from 2007’s “Chase This Light” and the rest of the albums bones feel like they could be outtakes from “Bleed American”.  Bravo Jimmy Eat World, Bravo!

Recommended tracks – Love Never, 555, Surviving

Hobo Johnson - The Fall Of Hobo Johnson (Reprise/Warner) – I first saw Hobo Johnson back in August at a Lollapalooza after show, and every single person in the sold out crowd knew every single word, to every single song…And half the songs hadn’t even been released yet.  I had me curious to hear what his second studio album would bring.  And it did not disappoint “The Fall Of Hobo Johnson” is filled with real life lyrics about Ruby Tuesday’s and Subaru’s set to off key rhymes and smooth beats in a way that will have you going back again and again.

Recommended tracks – Typical Story, Subaru Crosstrek XV, Mover Awayer

Billie Eilish - When We All Fall Asleep, Where Do We Go (Darkroom/Interscope) – When I saw Billie Eilish at Lollapalooza in August of 2018, I had a feeling I was watching something special.  Boy, was I right, as soon as she released here debut album things exploded for her.  Easliy the biggest artist of the year, this one is filled with so much ear candy, you’re gonna need a dentist…for your ears….That made sense in my head before I wrote it…

Recommended tracks – All The Good Girls Go To Hell, Wish You Were Gay, Bad Guy.

Happy New Year #AltFamily !
