Brandi - First Ever Borderland Festival In The Books

September 24, 2018

The first ever Borderland festival is in the books!  The two day festival took place at the picturesque Knox Farm in East Aurora.  The sound of John Oates, The Revivalists, Sam Roberts Band, Margo Price and tons of local acts filled the farm over two days.

I was only able to make the Saturday show and it was incredible!  First, I was greeted by sheep in the Activity Center for kids. They were adorable...the sheep that is!  Music filled the air and I approached the Beer/Cider line to enjoy a Borderland IPA brewed by 42 North.  To accompany the cold brew, I stopped at Black Iron Bystro for their Farmhouse Frites (Fries with Malt Vinegar and Aioli). I loved that our local restaurants and breweries including Allen Burger Venture, Winfields Pub, Big Ditch, and Resurgence Brwing Company were showcased.

Folkfaces were performing on the Homespun Stage and soon I was reliving my high school days listening to Sam Roberts Band.  Sam Roberts Band were the perfect soundtrack for the festival.  The vibe was chill and it made you smile to see everyone just enjoying themselves.  As The Revivalists were about to take the stage the sun had just set and the cool air filled the farm.  I must say, we Western New Yorkers are a hearty bunch!  Seriously only WNY would have a festival in the fall, we're used to the cold!

Then The Revivalists took the stage and they blew me away!  They warmed the audience right up with their New Orleans sound and were so full of energy.  They are truly talented musicians.  And what I took away from their performance was... listen to more Revivalists!!

I wish I could have attended Sunday at Borderland.  The festival was magical and the perfect way to ring in the fall season! I hope that this is just the first of many Borderlands!
